Home Computer Repair:
Computers are machines. Just like any machine that was manufactured by mankind, regular maintenance is required, upgrades for added performance may be desired and parts will eventually wear out, requiring replacement.

Additionally, files that were once kept in a file cabinet are now stored on your computer's hard drive and you need a good data management plan. In time, all hard drives will fail, therefore, routine data backups to a stable location outside of your computer's hard drive are needed in order to ensure that your files remain safely preserved.

We have the ability and resources to keep your computer healthy and your data safe. But you will need to add us to your regular routine. Your doctor takes care of your health, your mechanic takes care of your vehicle and FieldDesktopSupport.com takes care of your computer.

Does your computer or laptop have any of the common problems listed in the next column? If so, we need to service your computer right away.

Computer Lifecycles:
We recommend that personal laptop/notebook computers be replaced with a new one after 3-4 years, (or less) depending on how much use and travel it sees.

For personal home desktop computers, we recommend that they be replaced with a new machine every 4-5 years under normal circumstances. You may find yourself in need of running new, robust programs that weren't available at the time your desktop PC was made and that you are running out of storage space on your computer's hard drive. If this is the case, a newer, more robust computer may be in order.

We can either build you a customized desktop computer, tailored for your individual needs, or we can assist you in buying one from a reputable mainstream manufacturer.

Common Home Computer Issues:

NO Anti-Virus Software Installed:
Not having anti-virus software installed on your computer in an invitation to disaster. (Having expired, subscription based anti-virus software is just as bad.) Having viruses on your computer can lead to identity theft or data loss, and your computer can become a launching pad for those same viruses to attack other computers on the internet.

If you don't have a good anti-virus software installed on your computer, it is almost guaranteed that your computer has them. Let Field Desktop Support fix that for you.

NOTE: Some viruses can not be uninstalled and require a complete wipe of the hard drive. Wiping the computer's hard drive involves backing up your data, running a DOD grade wipe of the hard drive so that no data (including viruses) will survive, reinstalling the operating system and supplemental software and then restoring your data onto the hard drive. AN examination of your computer is required in order to determine if a complete wipe is needed or not.

Uncontrollable Behavior:
Relentless pop-ups, warning messages, update notifications from unrecognized sources, crazy web search agents, clusters of toolbars etc. Viruses aren't the only thing that you need to defend against. There is also the category of Malicious Software (a.k.a. Malware) which includes HiJackers. Both malware and hijackers can make using your computer.
Let Field Desktop Support fix that for you.

Blue Screen of Death:
Complete system crashes resulting the the infamous "Blue Screen" are serious. Your computer's hard drive could be going bad. If so, there is only a limited amount of time to preserve your data before it fails completely. If you wait till the hard drive goes completely bad (won't start at all) before getting seeking technical assistance, the risk of loosing all your files increases dramatically. If your computer has seen the Blue Screen of Death, let Field Desktop Support fix that for you right away.

Computer Runs Really Slow:
Let's say that your computer is less than 5 years old, you've already added more RAM to the machine and that it doesn't have any of the problems mentioned above, but it still runs slow. A routine maintenance service call just might do the trick. Think of it as a tune-up for your computer. Let Field Desktop Support fix that for you.
